Giving Tree Surplus

Sharing neighborhood surplus to help high risk people in our community.

Imagine…

Imagine 10% of all families in Hendersonville, NC budgeted for backyard fruit trees plants for their backyards each year.

Imagine the abundant yields of fruit, food and medicine.

Imagine 1,448 families planting a single apple tree, with compost and care.

On average, that’s 252 to 864 apples per standard size tree, or 364,000 to 1,2 million apples produced in backyards in a single year.

Imagine sharing those 50 million calories stored in apples to 9,200 homeless people registered in North Carolina . Or, including local apples in free meals to 6,700 children in high poverty school districts - for a full year.

Giving Tree Surplus distributes the abundance of our local gardens to real people in our community.
